Articles and  Blog  Reflections

Welcome to this website. While my private office practice is closed, I continue to be active professionally and currently teach a six session workshop/course entitled, "Parents Resiliency Training-A Path to More Peace of Mind." Please see the section  About PRT and Book for more information. There, you can also learn about my book: "Help Your Child or Teen Get Back on Track" . The section, About Dr. Talan, will tell you something about me and my background, as well as my former  office practice, which ended when I retired on December 31, 2014.

Help Your Child or Teen Get Back on Track has won two awards! The first is the Kenneth Johnson Memorial Library "Ken Book Award," in  May 1, 2008, by the Metro New York chapter of NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally Ill);  the second is the IPPY Gold Medal in the psychology category, sponsored by the Independent Book Publishers Association, awarded in Los Angeles, CA on May 30, 2008.

The book is available from book dealers, on order, and Amazon now.

Parents’ Resiliency Training Is a group course that  can be a path  to more peace of mind for a parent . See "About PRT" for more detailed information.

Articles related to somatic experiencing therapy,  mindfulness/meditation, and mind/brain, all of general interest. Some will be the work of others and some my own.  My blog will  include reflections  on our mental life/ subjective experience and practical ideas on the  factors contributing to mental health, for an individual and for parents trying to foster it in their child.
